Safety Manager – Seattle, WA

 DPR Construction is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to be based in the Seattle area. This individual will implement DPR’s environmental health and safety plan (EHSP) and related programs at assigned construction project(s). The Safety Manager will work with our project management team and subcontractors to recognize and address potential hazards before they exist and ensure compliance with our EHSP utilizing behavior-based safety techniques. Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following: 

  • • Lead and live DPR’s injury-free environment culture. 
  • • Identify safety training needs and provide safety training as appropriate. 
  • • Shepherd and develop career path safety coordinator(s). 
  • • Coach DPR/sub management on safety leadership and management practices. 
  • • Provide trending analysis for project data on a weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly basis. 
  • • Foster the development of safety programs and protocols. 
  • • Develop and blend site-specific safety plan(s) that incorporates both DPR’s and our core market customers’ safe work practices. 
  • • Assist with the continual development of new methods for abating hazards. 
  • • Perform regular Jobsite safety audits of worksite activities. Share findings, corrective actions, and corrective plans with DPR project management. 
  • • When necessary, utilize every resource necessary, including escalation, to ensure an injury-free environment. 
  • • Help monitor the subcontractor selection process and adherence to established environmental safety and health guidelines. 
  • • Measure team engagement regarding safety management practices. 
  • • Maintain regional safety files such as safety training documentation participating in updates to our EHSP, applicable medical certifications, environmental testing, and special associated training, investigation reports including RCA’s, near misses, close calls, injury summaries, leading indicator data and other safety and health documentation. 
  • • Collaborate on subcontractor project onboarding (pre-construction meetings, review site-specific safety plan, and job hazard analysis (JHA), review training requirements, orientation). 
  • • Collect and review pre-task plans and provide feedback for improvement. 
  • • Conduct daily documented safety inspections/audits. 
  • • Assist/conduct safety orientations for all on-site employees. 
  • • Conduct weekly mass safety meetings. 
  • • Conduct incident investigations as needed. 
  • • Interact with client safety representative. 
  • • Maintain safety documentation and posting. 
  • • Maintain safety supplies inventory. 
  • • Maintain and manage COVID response items. 


We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines. The successful candidate will possess: 

  • • High rise post tensioned concrete experience required 
  • • Tower crane experience highly preferred 
  • • Minimum 3 years’ experience on construction sites. 
  • • Train-the-trainer, and other activity-specific certifications preferred. 
  • • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite. 
  • • Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills. 
  • • Degree in safety management or CHST certification preferred. 
  • • Ability to identify and resolve complex issues. 
  • • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. 
  • • A strong work ethic and a “can-do,” “let’s find a solution” attitude. 
  • • Competent person training, including training in fall protection, scaffolding, excavation & trenching. 
  • • OSHA 30 and/or 510 certification within the last 3 years. 
  • • CPR/first aid/AED current. 
  • • English and Spanish speaking skills are preferred.
