What an exciting time to be a member of the Puget Sound Chapter of the ASSP!
Here are just a few accomplishments over the last year:
- In 2017-2018, our chapter grew 12%, to a total membership of over 630 safety professionals.
- In Seattle last fall, we hosted the Region 1 Operating Conference (ROC) welcoming chapters from the west coast, Alaska and Hawaii.
- We had the largest participation to date at our Professional Development Conference (PDC).
- Governor Jay Inslee signed our Chapter’s proclamation for Occupational Safety and Health Week and Occupational Safety and Health Professionals Day.
We successfully transitioned from the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), to the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP). What a year!
I would to thank the hard work and dedication of everyone who made this last year a success. Each and every volunteer made an impactful contribution to our chapter, and we appreciate your efforts.
This year, we celebrate our 75th anniversary as a chapter…our diamond jubilee! We begin planning on August 1st, as the Executive Committee and leadership teams from our sections come together to strategize the chapter year.
As we continue to grow, and look for new ways to maximize membership benefits, we will look to our chapter members as the catalysts. Either by serving in leadership, volunteering for a committee, speaking at a chapter meeting, or simply sharing an idea you have for improvement, we look to you, our members, for ways to improve. Here are a few committees we will be looking to staff with volunteers this year:
- Membership Committee
- Recognition Committee
- Social Media Committee
- PDC Planning Committee
I am very excited to serve as your chapter president this year. I hope to see you at our first chapter meeting on September 19th in Seattle, and look forward to visiting all of our sections throughout the year!
