Greetings!
Happy Autumn! This month’s meeting topic is Emergency Management, presented by John Gargett, Deputy Director of Whatcom Emergency Management within the Whatcom Sheriff Department. He has worked in the field for a number of years and has a wide range of experience with emergency situations. His approach to the subject is practical. You will come away with new information.
Greg Smith, President, GBS Communications, Inc will give his talk at another time. Stay tuned for a date and time in the coming weeks.
Other Topics:
****The Puget Sound Chapter Executive Committee has offered to visit us throughout the year to update us on Chapter, area, and Society news and events. We can also invite the Area Director, Tim Bogowith and Regional Director, James Boretti, to visit us and have them update us on Regional and Society news.
****The ROC (Regional Operations Committee) Meeting will be held later this month. The goal of this meeting is to offer communication between the Region I chapters via chapter/section representatives. Chapter/section activities are discussed as well as successes and challenges so that we can learn from each other and offer advice or ideas to enhance our membership benefits. We presented this year’s Board President, Justin Molocznik, with a PPT slide to share at the ROC Meeting with our challenges, and goals, including a community outreach event (see attached).
****The Chapter reviews the Bylaws every 2 years. Our Section Bylaws are due for review as well. The Board members will review and revise as needed. Please forward any questions you may have to Karma Reavis.
****Volunteers for the Chapter and Section are always welcome! Members can volunteer during a technical tour, on the board, the WISE section, a local Professional Develop Conference, or a community outreach event. It’s a great way to network as well as get to know your fellow professional safety members. We also invite members to be part of the Section Board. Elections are held early in the new year and always seem to come sooner than you know. So if you are interested in participating on the board next year, please see Karma, Roger Maneval, Richard Thody, or me to ask about these positions. We also now have a WISE section, so please see Claire Beich for additional information.
Please email me if you plan on attending the meeting. Feel free to share any job openings or other pertinent safety related information/conferences that evening.
See you there!
