• How to Prepare a Conference Presentation Package – Insights from a Planning Committee Member

DESCRIPTION
• Conference planning committees often receive far more submissions than they can possibly include in the technical program. So what makes the difference between those selected and those that are passed over? The most significant differences traditionally include content relevant to the current professional practice, clarity of the presented material, and thoroughness with which the submission responds to the instructions. This session will provide insights from an ASSP and National Safety Council annual conference committee planning member to help increase the likelihood that your first submission, and successive submissions, are successful. As a long-time virtual and in-person conference session moderator, the presentation will also cover keys to successfully delivering accepted submissions so as to leave attendees inspired and enthusiastic about leaving a five-star speaker rating.

Mr. Militello currently serves as executive EHS Director for the Boeing Commercial Airplanes 737 Program, Delivery Operations, and Total Quality. In that role, he is responsible for workplace safety and environmental compliance and performance, including 737 MAX return to delivery, commercial flight lines, and paint and storage operations.

Tony recently completed a 25-year career civil servant most recently serving as the Director, Occupational Safety and Health, and strategic advisor on the staff of the Secretary of the Navy. Mr. Militello was also the Functional Community Leader for over 1,200 safety and occupational health professionals.

Tony holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering in fire protection engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park and a Masters of Public Administration from American University. He is a Director on the Society of Fire Protection Engineers Board of Directors, Vice-Chair of the BCSP Foundation Board of Directors, and sits on the ASSP and National Safety Council Conference Planning Committees. Tony is a licensed Professional Engineer, Certified Safety Professional, and Certified Quality Engineer.
