Our October Mt. Baker Section meeting we will be held in-person at Jalapenos Restaurant in Barkley square (Bellingham, WA) next Wednesday, October 15th. We will order dinner at 5:30pm and our speaker will begin at around 6pm.

Speaker: Hunter Burke

Topic: Moving beyond ‘zero’

Zero incidents, zero harm, go for zero.  Whatever you call it, it’s unrealistic and unattainable.  So why do we put so much emphasis on Zero, and how do we move beyond Zero?

Hunter Burke, CSP, CHST, is the Vice President of the Puget Sound Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) and the owner of Cascade Safety Group, based in Edmonds, WA. With over 11 years of experience as a safety professional, Hunter has worked extensively in the construction industry, as well as in process safety and oil and gas manufacturing.

Throughout his career, Hunter has consistently driven innovation and raised expectations for workplace safety. As an early adopter and contributor to Energy-Based Safety (EBS) theory, he has helped organizations reduce recordable incidents by as much as 80% over five years, while also lowering operating costs.

Hunter is passionate about applying progressive, science-based safety strategies across industries to improve the lives and well-being of workers.
